A romantic getaway

Karl and I just got back from a couple of days alone on the Eastern Shore. We stayed at a nice B&B with a private porch just for us; we had a great view of the grounds and the river. As always when we travel, the weather was perfect: sunny, not too hot, and no rain. Karl's whole family on his mother's side are weather witches who have perfect weather (within certain climate parameters) wherever they go.

We left after an Easter sushi lunch with Karl's mom and a visit at her house. After driving to the B&B, loading our stuff into the room, and taking a quick tour of the grounds, we set off to find dinner. It turned out to be a Mexican place that was still open at almost 9 p.m. on Easter; we had steak chimichangas that were very tasty and came with excellent guacamole. Then it was back to the B&B to sleep in a huge four-poster bed with little steps to climb up.

Monday morning we went to the maritime museum in St. Michael's. There was a shop nearby that looked very interesting, so I went in without Karl; good thing, because I found his birthday present. Then we drove to Rehoboth and did some shopping there, too. I really want to go back to Rehoboth when I can shop without someone waiting for me in the car! I liked both St. Michael's and Rehoboth but was unimpressed with Ocean City, although I had a very good banana-chocolate milkshake on the boardwalk. We picked up sandwiches on the way back and ate them on our porch as the sun went down.

Tuesday we drove home via some outlets and an antique store. I scored some great stuff, including a Christmas gift (planning ahead is always appropriate). We got home just in time for Karl to participate in a teleconference. Then we unpacked and went through the mail, both e and snail. Lydia says she was lonely, but I don't think the cats missed us dreadfully.
