Re: George: in the closet vs homosexually self-aware with a bad case of selective inattention anonymous October 2 2009, 15:47:49 UTC
That was a very interesting reading. Thanks for sharing it with us, Tiggy.

"A homosexually self aware man may initially identify himself as gay but then regret that decision and return to his earlier practices of hiding."

That's exactly what George is doing with this bearding. Just take a look at those wonderful pics of George with Eric that ananda posted above; clearly, it wasn't an issue for him just a few years ago, and he even outed himself in several interviews and articles (Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Early Show, his interview on Ellen, the US Weekly article where he called the firemen 'studs' and referred to his dog as a 'sexy, big man', the Usaweekend article where they stated that George and Eric WERE SHARING the house.....)

Now, sadly we have to see how George has backpedaled furiously to the closet. Shame.

"Some closeted gay people can reflexively speak without revealing the gender of the person being discussed or without providing any gendered details of their personal lives. Toward the end, a gay person might avoid references to gender altogether."

That's what George has done in some past interviews. Could he very more ambiguous and evasive when he was asked about his love life in this chat on Yahoo from 2001?: ( btw, the imdb administrators have deleted this chat multiple times. No wonder why...*wink*)
