Yay, thanks so much!!!
I suppose James might have been acting a bit rash, but he was also being "irresponsible" in letting Jack go the first time, in instigating a fight in the Faithful Bride and in kissing Liz on the Flying Dutchman...James has been changed from the man we knew in most of CotBP. In DMC, he just doesn't seem to care, drinking for the purpose of drinking so that he ends up throwing up and behaving in Tortuga as though he wants to die. Now, they're on an island where one can easily pretend that the outside world doesn't exist, she's been horny during all of DMC and he knows it. There's no doubt that when they were engaged, he fantasized about it.
I tried to break the characters down so that they were at the absolute rock bottom...not that big of a stretch for James...where it seemed like nothing good could come, no rescue, no hope...everything was lost and Elizabeth had just realized how she had affected him in such a way that "I'm sorry" would never cut it. On a subconcious level, the sex is sort of an apology for what she did to him.
Elizabeth knows what she's doing would be considered wrong, but I don't think she realizes why, that she could get pregnant from it. She's a smart girl, but her mom died at an early age and I doubt Estrella explains such things.
Yes, Will and Elizabeth got married before she started showing.
Ok, you convinced me, I'll write an AU sequel to this AU. hehe. I had started to write a proper sequel, here's a little taste:
The Admiral was cautious about the weather after having lost a ship in such weather years ago. His flagship was tied up at the dock and he as well as all the crew were safely contained within a local tavern. He was perched before a window with a book, but he was too anxious to read. It felt as though something was going to happen today and he kept glancing up at his ship, making sure it was still there.
“Admiral!” cried Lieutenant Ellis, coming in through the open doorway. The commanding officer rose up immediately and had already grabbed his coat and hat by the time he reached Ellis to ask, “What has happened?”
“The Spanish galleon La Galga is sinking offshore,” the man informed him and the Admiral questioned, “But that’s a treasure ship.” They were in the hallway now as he put on his coat and hat and the Lieutenant explained, “It was also carrying English prisoners bound for Spain.”
The older man nodded and ordered, “Ready the man and prepare the longboats.” He made one more stop before returning to his ship; he informed the proprietor of the inn who promised to tell the mayor and constable. The survivors would need food and lodging even if they were Spanish. The scene was one he had seen many, many times before whether it was in the Caribbean or here on the border of the colonies of Virginia and Maryland.
However, it was mostly men who varied from stoicism to screaming in the water as they clutched debris or were still clinging to the ship that was already half submerged. The prisoners had been released rather than let drown which he appreciated. It was an easy pattern of retrieval and taking them back to shore until he saw a young woman by herself who was definitely not Spanish. In fact, he felt as though he’d seen a ghost. She was the spitting image of Elizabeth and couldn’t be anyone but Jessica Turner. Her green eyes appeared to be the only evidence of her paternity. “Admiral!” cried one of his newest Lieutenants, Bently, who was still unsure of his place, “Admiral Norrington.”

Thanks for the preview of the new story. I appreciate it. I thought I should read your other story first - the Beckett one - so I waited until today to read this. I think it's nice that James will get to meet his daughter. Will he tell her the truth? I'm guessing probably not? It might proove confusing to her, especially if she's still young (like a teenager).
So I convinced you to write an AU sequel to an AU story. LOL.
Personally, I don't think James was drunk in Tortuga. When he first started talking to Mr. Gibbs his voice was very clear, not slurred. Then he started drinking. And I think he threw up later because he never drank before and it was a shock to his system. Its like when people who just start smoking cough a lot, but experienced smokers don't. I think that little scene in the bar was the only time James drank rum. It's why he got sick. Look at Jack. Jack drinks a TON and he doesn't throw up. Why? Because he's used to drinking. So why did James drink the rum then? Probably because he couldn't beleive he was actually asking Jack for a job!
And watch him later in DMC. He recovers much quicker than Will does after the big wheel runs into the ocean. That's not the actions of an alcoholic or a man drunk on rum. His mind was very clear and he thought quickly, figuring out in seconds Jack hid the heart in the bottle of dirt. Drunks have slurred voices, think slowly, stumble about, argue, start fights, pass out...
Of course, you may write what you wish. It's your story.
Did he kiss her on the Flying Dutchman? What would he even be doing on that creepy ship?? I really don't think he aught to be paling around with Jones.
Yes, I realize Elizabeth was horny in DMC. It's actually quite the joke on Will that he ended up raising James' daughter and didn't know it. That dumb look he always has in the movies makes that very beleivable!
