What's her story, morning glory?

So, I recognize not everyone has the time or inclination to write fanfic...but, perhaps you've given a little thought to the character that you'd like to share. Perhaps you wouldn't even mind providing a little food for thought for the fic writers.
I'm just wondering if anyone thinks about the history, the life lessons, the past experiences that made Dr. Hahn who she is. Why the hard as nails attitude? Why does she purposely separate the personal and the professional? Is there a reason she holds parts of herself back?
What do you think...Is it just her personality, and the woman she is? Is there a backstory of explanation? Her childhood, some bad experience as a young woman, maybe she got burned?
