Hope you don't mind if I do the comment as I read thing otherwise I usually lose my first impressions by the end of the work.
Hush money definitely believable. Erica really had the chief in a difficult position and the hospital would have been financially crippled with lawsuits.
So did you as I did envision her home in Seattle to be the one that is in Burningeden's OHTM?

Loved the subliminal reasons for choosing the location of her house to begin with. Perhaps her subconscious already knew she saw 'leaves' even before she got her new glasses.
If she felt a little anonymous in her long sleeved shirt, black jeans and boots Definitely could see Erica enjoying some anonymity as she processes all this about herself.
OMG - someone spots her in the toy store. Yikes!
Oh, I am just loving your description of Erica in the toy store. Casually putting down the glass phallus then shaking her hand and discussing toy options like they were comparing produce in the market. Definitely very 'Hahn' like for me. Don't think she cares much about what others think of her and is a bit of geek at heart so she would ultimately find something functional with all the right features for her needs.
she missed having regular company, once she’d had it again absolutely resonate with this sentiment. Definitely one of those 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone' sort of reactions.
Oh, can't wait to find out who joined her in the steam room. Excellent read. Definitely can't wait for the next installment.

I did like Burningeden's OHTM picture and her vision of Erica's home but then one day when I had it really bad (man was I distracted last summer) I was walking in the neighborhood thinking about where Erica might live and I saw a very cute house that had a view of the lake in the other direction, out toward Bellevue--you know, where the bears live.
Wish I had more time to write this story today but it's off to work with me. Thank you.
