First I woud like to thank the mods a hundred times over for letting me post this here, considering its not exactly Erica centric. However it is for a good cause and I am grateful to them for letting me do this. So without further ado here it is!

Project: Donation Day

Hello Everyone!

A while back, a small group of online friends (thank you Singham!) got together and decided that we wanted to do something special for Sara's birthday. We wanted to find a way to get together and donate a lump sum of money to the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation. Although we encountered a few hurdles, we've finally found a good way to make this happen.

I was very happy (and pleasantly surprised) to see that the foundation's website had finally put up a paypal link to receive donations. This way, the money will not have to be exchanged multiple times and we know that the donation will go directly to the rightful recipient.

Want to know how to participate?

What do you do?

On Saturday August 1st, log onto the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation website and make a donation using the PayPal link at the bottom of the page. It can be as little or as much as you desire. The point is,  even if a handful of us does it, we can make a decent sized donation towards the cause.

The website can be found here: http://www.aldrodriguezliverfoundation.com/index2.html

What happens after?

Well... that's really up to all of us. We are definitely going to include a letter in the birthday scrapbook  explaining why a bunch of donations appeared on that specific date. I am toying with the idea of including a list of donors with that letter... However, since the money goes directly though paypal, there is no way for us to know if you made a donation. The best way I could think of keeping track of you all is to ask you to send us an email stating the name you want listed and where you are from.

On a side note... The scrapbook project is still very much happening! Make sure you join the Sara Birthday Project community(http://community.livejournal.com/sarabdayproject/) for up to date information for both Donation Day and the Birthday Scrapbook.

I can't think of a better way for us fans to honor Sara on her birthday. Al was a very important person in her life and I think that helping her honor his memory would make an amazing gift.

- “He was my gay husband, my soul mate, my brother, my sister and meant everything to me. But he didn’t have health insurance and so he died.”... “He died from liver cancer and the last thing he said to me was that I needed to live enough for the both of us. That's exactly what I aim to do.”- S.R.

This is similar to what was done for Brooke because that's where we got the idea to do this for Sara albiet a little tweaking. I post this here because I honestly love this community and really want to get people involved. Again I would like to thank the mods and anyone who took the time to read this. Thanks!
