Reporting from the East Coast, I say, ya know, I think I'd like to go back to Monday, if it's all the same to everyone. Tuesday we had our first earthquake in over 100 years and this weekend we're bracing for Hurricane Irene.
So yeah, let's go back to Monday, shall we?
That said, I'm bringing in the hanging plants, tying down the porch swing, gathering up the candles, making sure the oil lamp is primed, and studiously avoiding the grocery store (thank GOD we have enough toilet paper), prepping for the onslaught.
That that said, I live further inland than, say Ocean City, Maryland, so we're probably only going to get the western edge of the storm - which means merely 50 mph winds and 4-to-6 inches of rain, as opposed to 100 mph and 8 to 12.
Not as bad as predicted, but getting through Saturday night was a real nail-biter for me. That wind and rain was really something - and we weren't anywhere near hurricane-force. But I'm glad they gave us such stern warnings about the possible damage. I mean, isn't it better to be OVER prepared than UNDER

Another day, another natural disaster. I mean, in the past week and a half, we've had hail, an earthquake, a tornado and now a hurricane. The power went out once so far for a half an hour. We totally expect it to go out again before the morning. For now, we're enjoying The Perfect Storm and a bottle of wine.
