I saw Fair Game earlier today and really enjoyed the movie. The writing, direction and overall production of the movie was very well done and it was one of the best movie's I've seen in a long time. For more about the movie and Brooke's role follow the cut.....
Here's the synopsis of the movie I found online
A suspense-filled glimpse into the dark corridors of political power, FAIR GAME is a riveting action-thriller based on the autobiography of real-life undercover CIA operative VALERIE PLAME (Naomi Watts), whose career was destroyed and marriage strained to its limits when her covert identity was exposed by a politically motivated press leak. As a covert officer in the CIA’s Counter-Proliferation Division, Valerie leads an investigation into the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Valerie’s husband, diplomat JOE WILSON (Sean Penn), is drawn into the investigation to substantiate an alleged sale of enriched uranium from Niger. But when the administration ignores his findings and uses the issue to support the call to war, Joe writes a New York Times editorial outlining his conclusions and ignites a firestorm of controversy.
Overall I really liked the movie and the story flowed well the entire time. It never dragged and there was a nice balance of showing both the family and professional side of Valerie Plame. Naomi Watts did an excellent job in the role and Plame always is shown as a very intelligent woman and highly skilled CIA agent. They also used actual news footage which added to the realism of the movie. Both Valerie and her husband Joe Wilson (Sean Penn) are well written although it is unclear what Joe does for a living.
Brooke has three scenes in the movie which begins just after Sept. 11th:
The opening scene Joe and Valerie are in a restaurant/bar with three other couples (although it is never explained how the couples know each other) celebrating Diana's (Brooke) birthday. The three men are ranting and blaming various nations about the terrorist attacks. They're drunk and ask Joe what he thinks. Brooke doesn't have any dialogue in the scene.
About 45 minutes later...The three couples and Valerie and Joe are all sitting around a dinner table again the men are ranting about the war and Saddam Hussein and ask Joe his opinion. The women don't talk during the scene but Valerie ends it by asking if anyone wants dessert.
Right after Valerie is exposed, the two other women in the group (not Brooke) call her and say they saw her name in the newspaper and ask if it is her. The next scene is odd. Brooke is sitting in a small cafe and Valerie comes in and sits down at the table with her. They don't greet each other like good friends would but Brooke starts asking her questions (this is the scene from the promo) and the scene ends with Brooke asking if she's killed anyone.
I'd recommend seeing it if you want to go to a good movie but if you're going just to see Brooke, you'll be disappointed because of the small role she has in it.
