Yes, well, last evening was that art exhibition I was talking about before, which was divided up by grade. I met a few of my friends there and walked around with them, talking about random stuff and looking at each other's artwork, which was all matted and set up on the whitewash concrete walls... just enjoying the lemonade and carrots, you know, hanging out. A bunch of people kept taking our pictures (it sorta creepy... Oo), and I met some pretty cool people there.
Then the award ceremony started, and we were all shepherded into this room with a bunch of chairs and a table with a stack of certificates and plaque-y thingies. Then we sat around for a while, waiting for the whole shindig to get started. When the people (I'd say mostly young college students, pretty typical-looking) came up to the front of the room and introduced themselves and why they were there, they began calling out the names.
Everyone who was accepted into the exhibition recieved a certificate of achievement (you know the deal - oh boy, a piece of paper with my name on it). It took a while for everyone to stumble out of their seats and knock over cups of lemonade that were resting on the floor, etc, and for parents to leap from their chairs to urgently take pictures. When that was finished, they started with the awards (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each division). They began at the lower divisions, then worked their way up to the one I was in. They called out 3rd place, then 2nd... and would you know what? I got 1st place. It was kind of a funny feeling. I was all... "Uh. What?" And then my good friend elbowed me in the stomach and I sort of stepped on this guy's foot on the way up, and... yeah. Not a bad experience. The announcer guy, Peter, who looked relatively homosexual (again, I don't mean that in an insulting way, it just helps to describe him, I suppose) handed me this plaque and made me give him a high-five (I didn't really understand the significance of that, but whatever).
