Friendship

My friend Cheryl passes on some wise words about true friendship.

I often tell my friends that a true friend is someone you can call up at three in the morning and say "I'm in Snohomish County and I can't find my pants!" and that friend brings you pants, no questions asked, all the way to Snohomish County.

People always seem to think that there is some kind of story behind this characterization of friendship, but no, there isn't.

Rather, it's a bit like my saying that I wish I had enough money to buy an elephant. Not because I want an elephant. I don't. I just want that much money.

I would totally be there for a true friend if he or she needed pants, but I don't expect that this exact situation will arise any time soon.
