Old comics are both hilarious and disturbing. I look back at the messages I grew up with, and wonder that I'm not more messed up. Nothing like Saturday morning racism and sexism for the kiddies, eh?

Maybe, though I think that some of the pernicious influence of old-school cartoon has been vastly exaggerated. I can remember when the line was "Watching the Three Stooges will turn you into an axe murderer" or the like.

It gets even worse to me when the same people criticizing the immoral/un-PC nature of old cartoons then praise something like 'Family Guy' or 'South Park' to high heaven. Because goodness knows, there's nothing offensive there!

PS: In case I have to say this, this isn't aimed at you personally. I figure you're more than intelligent enough to know that, but I've been stung by some folks elsewhere online recently.

Ugh. Sorry to hear you've been dealing with idiots.

Who says the Stooges are bad? Just ask Moe-hammed!

Thanks. But it seems more like a general tone of surliness and ingratitude in fandom. There's rather more on this in my most recent LJ entry.

And I like the "Moe-hammad" userpic. XD
