I doubt that much can be done, but the local library is insisting that I didn't return a book that I'm about 98% sure that I did return back in January. I've checked everywhere in the house where the book could possibly be (I'm very careful where I set books from the library) and it's in none of those places. I also checked behind and under furniture and no good.
I strongly suspect that the book is in the library, either in back of or under something (this has happened to me before there a few times, with books missing for weeks or months before someone thought to look in a crack between the wall and the book return where the book had been sitting) but I'm not allowed in the back where the books are kept. Should I insist (after all, that's been the solution before this) or just pony up the money for a lost book and wait for them to find it and refuse to refund me or apologize -- again?
I like the library but this has really been getting tired.
