Another great gamer leaves us
The man who designed the first modern wargame and who created the Avalon Hill game company, Charles Roberts, just died recently.
My brother was a big Avalon Hill game fan when he was growing up and I caught the bug from him. Since he spent most of his time in the Army, that left the games at home for me to play with. Man did I ever get a lot of fun out of 1776, Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, and Alexander. Really, it was Avalon Hill and the Ace Conan reprints that got me into history and mythology in the first place. And from there, on to so much else.
