Happy Fastnacht Day!

Feb 24, 2009 12:31

In the Big Easy they celebrate Mardi Gras, when fifty thousand drunken Cajuns run through the streets chanting "Le grand tetons!" at every woman they see, but here among a civilized people, the Pennsylvania Dutch, we celebrate Fastnacht Day and eat a donut instead.

Which probably explains why everyone is in New Orleans right now and no one is in Pennsylvania.

Some churchly news as we head into Lent -- the new preacher at our church is leaving as the congregation has voted him out. I can't say I'll be sorry to see him go, he was more than a little arrogant with us (nor did I care for him humiliating me before the congregation), but I hope he ends up with the church and congregation that's a perfect fit for him.

I also hope I never meet them.

Also, for Lent I'll be giving up some of my free time every day to write at least three pages of my story(s) every day regardless.

Best to you all, and remember to eat a donut.
