[Bass is sitting outside of Mimmi's room on Deck 6. He has his legs drawn up, his head between his knees and his hands over his ears. Every so often his shadow will pipe up and hiss or laugh.]
DADDY DOESN'T LOVE YOU

And, well, hey, it's not like she knows his face, so it's not like she knows him, exactly, but everything about his posture screams distress and she's a mommy first and foremost. She can't ignore that.]
Um.
[She crouches nearby carefully, obviously favoring her right side.]
...Did you get locked out?

The logical explanation here is that Bass is Infected, too. Clearly. She reaches out with her left hand to touch his arm gently.]

Good job, Bass. That probably tore something.
But Attika's still a mother. Bass isn't rid of her yet. She sits back up slowly, looking him over carefully.
Are those tattoos on his cheeks? Kids these days.]

I'm waiting for someone.
She has to be inside but he doesn't want to knock. HOW PATHETIC IS THAT?
[Bass's knuckles click like a key in a lock and his fingernails bite into synthetic skin.]

[Attika turns her attention to the door.]
Why don't you want to knock? Are you afraid she won't answer?
[And she's looking at him again.]
If she's inside, darling, I'm sure she will.

[Bass spits the word out as if it tastes foul, and he wrenches to the side to give her his back.]
Go away. Leave me alone.
We don't want to talk to you. Go take care of yourself already.

It makes her wonder what kind of person Bass' father is.]
I'm fine. There was a...doctor? But alright. If you want to be left alone, that's okay.
[Getting back up is hard. Maybe crouching next to Bass was a bad plan. She never realized how much she uses her arms until suddenly using one of them hurt this badly. But she will manage, thankyouverymuch.
She pauses, looking at Bass' shadow.]
It will go away, you know. It'll be okay.

[Bass himself doesn't say anything.]
