[Some of the more observant comm-stalkers might have noticed a distinct lack of troublemaker lately. Namely because he's been lying peacefully in his grave since they showed up. As he doesn't really have any needs to remain functional he's had a lot of time to lay there, think and be content.

Someone should take advantage of how downright ( Read more... )

[Don wanders among the graves in search of caught passengers, restlessness having driven him from his room. He, for one, had definitely noticed a distinct lack of a certain precense on the comms, but Bass is honestly the last thing on his mind as he walks.]

[At least, Bass had been the last thing on his mind. Until he almost stumbled right over him.]

[Don stops almost clumsily at the side of Bass's grave - surprised at his discovery and off-balanced momentarily because of that surprise - and hesitates, staring down at Bass with a tight expression and wide eyes.]

[This was just great.]

...Bass?

[Bass had be idly scrolling through the entries on the comm system, but his eyes snap over to regard the new arrival. He doesn't move otherwise, except to say-] Hello.

...Hello?

[It's hard to hold a grudge when the guy's already lying in his own grave, and Don shifts his weight a bit uncomfortably.]

You do realize the potential dangers that could result from an extended stay in these graves...right?

I don't eat, my next maintenance appointment isn't scheduled for another six to seven years, and even if they fill this with concrete I can easily dig my way out again.

[Bass says all this matter-of-factly, his comm -and hands holding it- resting easily on his stomach as he converses with Donatello as if it were a perfectly natural thing. Then he rather abruptly changes the topic.]

I wasn't planning on hurting you. [He's not that sorry about it -Bass just doesn't get sorry, it doesn't compute well- but he didn't mean to. Just putting that out there.]

[Yeah, Bass, that was kind of abrupt. What. Don's going to blink at you for a moment. Uh.]

I...suppose that's good to know. Thanks?

Have you taken into account the probability of your grave being potentially tailored to your own weaknesses?

[Have a subject change right back. Because Don can't in good conscience leave you here until he knows you aren't going to die.]

[He takes a second, his eyes rolling lazily to the side before he looks at Don again.]

I don't detect any abnormal readings in my power output levels or fusion reactor, and I haven't been getting any error messages. It's fine. I've been in here over a week.

Oh. Then I suppose this is probably one of the...better places to be, if there aren't any adverse effects. For you, at least.

[Awkward turtle time]

If you're all right...?

Why do you care? [Probably a good question.]

[Don contemplates not answering for a moment, but he sighs. Leaving a question unanswered wasn't really in his capabilities.]

If you were in any danger, then it would be wrong to leave you here. I'd prefer to avoid any unnecessary deaths or injuries. Particularly now.

That conscience is going to get you into trouble.

Someone here'll take advantage of you.

Perhaps. But there are plenty more things that could get me into just as much trouble, and my conscience is something I prefer having.

Why? What's the point?

[Why is it always asked that he explain these things?]

[Don crouches down with a soft sigh, elbows resting on his knees and ready to spring back at a moment's notice.]

Because it's what's right. A cliche answer, perhaps, but true enough.

"Right" and "wrong" are subjective. One might consider it wrong of you to try and make sure I'm safe, considering I'm dangerous and liable to hurt someone else in the future.

[Bass isn't even looking at Donatello as he answers, scrolling through a few entries on his comm in search of something interesting.]

Yes.

It's what's right to me, then.

[Don is perfectly okay with that]

Well, then you've established that I'll be fine.

Why're you still here? [Honestly Bass is just curious. All these people and their "honorable" morals, might as well have a boat of Megamans. Ugh.]
