Indescribeable exhaustion, breathlessness, severe abdominal pain and chest pain led to an ambulance to ST George's a week ago last Thursday. They kept me in overnight, found no treponin (a sign of heart damage) and sent me home. Everything got worse and last Wednesday found me at A & E at St Thomas's. At first they said IBS (!) but then it was all action when tests showed my red blood cell count had halfed in three weeks.
I was massively anaemic and they suspected massive gastric bleeding because of the blood thinning meds I have been on since the stent. They transfused much blood into me, did an endoscopy and found three bleeding ulcers. Treated, blood count back up, home last night.
I just...obviously, glad to still be here, but is this what my life is going to be like from now on? Already, this morning, for no obvious reason, my right foot hurts so much I cant put any weight on it.
Words welcome :)
