Maybe I Can Learn to Fly?

Public Transit in this city needs to stop costing so much. It's depressing to think that a couple hours of work only pays my transit costs for the week. Of course, my only other option is driving, and I'm not going to poke the hornet's nest that is car insurance. Or car ownership. Or anything vaguely car-related.

I'd love to be one of those bike-to-work hipsters (minus the jorts and poor hygiene), but I live an hour away from my job, and it would involve biking through some rather questionable areas alone after dark. Yeah... I think not. Getting mugged by crackheads for the $5 I carry is not my idea of fun.

Is anyone wondering about the reliability of the city's public transportation? Well, the buses have been featured in Fail Blog, so that's always a vote of confidence. I live in a classy city.

On the bright side, I have couscous with lentils and veggies for lunch tomorrow, so at least I win at something. I will clutch my brown bag lunch with pride when a fat and sweaty man inevitably sits next to me on the bus and tries to tell me his life story about how he's a recovering drug addict who went nuts after the Korean War. (And yes, this has happened.)
