And so, dear friend, my thoughts take wing and wander,
to those far lands whither we now may never go.
To Vincigliati and quarried Ceceri those far Cararran peaks.
A vision of enchantment, a delight more deep
thank ever elsewhere spirit or sense may hope to know. - Unknown
I read today online at some news source, possibly msnbc.com, abcnews.com, or latimes.com since I read all regularly, that The Dark Knight is sailing to possibly overtake Titanic for the highest US domestic gross of ticket sales. Right now, Dark Knight is at a bit over $300 mil, and they speculate by this coming weekend it will hit around the $500 mil level. Titanic did $600 mil, and for the love of all the things good in this world, Batman NEEDS to overtake it. My Dad and I were in agreement tonight as we walked out of the theater.
I got home kinda-sorta late, like around 7 ish, and I managed to eat a little bit of chicken and boiled potatoes Mom had made (I do love her home cooking, and her home made lunches. They are both yummy and nice to my wallet). I cut dinner short because I called Dad (even though he was one floor up, we prefer calling rather than yelling up the stairs. That was SO 90's like Bruce Wayne's three button suit) and I asked if he wanted to see the movie while I go on my second go-see. He was pretty eager, and he was willing to drop everything for us to rush over for the 7:35 pm showing (even when the current time had been 7:15!) And wouldn't you know, it WASN'T sold out. The theater itself was kinda-sorta crowded, but it wasn't elbow-to-elbow room, which I despise. We had it timed perfectly. The X-Files and Batman were on the same side of the theater, and the timing was nearly back to back. Had I been alone, I can nearly PROMISE I would of walked right into X-Files (who pays for two movies? Pfffft.) But I had Dad with me, and he was hungry. He was so hungry he didn't even sit through the credits, which he has done at every movie for as long as I can remember.
I think I'm tapped at two showings, though. I did my job, helped get the movie up to that $600 mil mark. I bought one action figure, and of course I'll get the DVD when it comes out. Come on, Cillian Murphy AND Christian Bale in the same movie, again? That feeds my nerdy fangirl obsession with them quite nicely. I also tend to get movies along with their sequels, but only if the same actors are in it. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are good examples. Now Urban Legends and and Urban Legends 2? NOT good examples. Jared Leto was only in the first one, as was Alicia Witt. So not worth it if they aren't in the second. Even if it just had Jared, I would of snatched that thing off the shelf of the gaming store where I saw it for $5. (I only buy movies used at Game Stop or the local comic book stores, and sometimes at Blockbuster. Outside of that, I will order cheaply on Amazon but thats only for hard to find or my Korean drama box sets. I made one exception and bought from Borders, only because Amazon would had wait listed me for Disco Pigsfor a YEAR and Borders could get it in three days.)
So, that was my night. Saw the movie, came home, wrote this after putting on some fun music. I work way early in the morning so its early bed time for me yet again. Fun times!
