It's good to see Erestor again:-) Ch 25 read well to me, your cutting it that much makesme curious of what was removed. You're brave like that, throwing out big chunks of writing. I tend to mourn even a couple of words I need to part with!
Thanks for your comment on ch 25. That was kind of you.
I know what you mean when you've chosen words or formed a phrase and don't get to keep them.
On the other hand ch 25, uncut, lacked momentum. (I preserved the uncut version but - that was just a comment, right?)
And Yay! you like Erestor :D (I miss not having him around more in this story...) (Be fun just to have the good bits and never mind trying to show a plot!)
I'm sure you kept the important bits, but it would actually be interesting to see the uncut version of both 25 an 26. Both because I enjoy the story, and because I'm curious about the process as such. If you don't mind, of course :)
I like Erestor very very much. To me, he is the main person in this story, the one I can relate to. He seems trustworthy and wise, honest and experienced, and is still endearing with his way of dressing and his lightness in company. his heartache brings depth to his character, and his way of handling it deserves respect.
There's nothing wrong with Lindir, he's just one of those characters that is only a name to me, regardless of the story. The same is true for many Silmarillion characters, for me. Perhapts it's just a matter of reading more stories with them. So again, Lindir is fine and I like him, but I'd rather spend more time in Erestor's company :)
I think I haven't identified the hook this story interests me with. Lindir's situation with three anti-heroes is part of that hook. However, Erestor has an appeal that Lindir, bless his socks, does not.
I like how very different your Erestor here is than in your other stories. (Though, of course, I like those very much indeed!) No wonder half the world is in love with him (with the exception, sadly, of the one he truly wants.)
I'm seriously chuffed you find him different than in my other stories - thanks :)
(Particularly because I clocked a fair few similarites myself with fics I wrote later.) And what you say makes me look forward to you seeing what transpires later... [a bit I like.]

He is too young for me!
