So, for those of you who have seen it: if you didn't cry like fifty million times, you have no heart. For those of you who haven't: GO SEE IT NOW AND I EXPECT YOU TO CRY.
Pixar has done it again. Done what, you ask? STOLEN MY HEART. How can they be so amazing and flawless every time? FREAKING PIXAR, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
This movie was beautiful and heartbreaking and adorable and I love Carl Fredricksen so, so much. I want him to be my grandpa like five minutes ago. His story was so gorgeous. For the film itself, while the plot was good, it didn't compare to Carl's inner journey. I liked Doug the Dog well enough and Kevin kind of freaked me out. Russel was adorable and we can get to Charles Muntz later. BUT CARL. OH, CARL. ♥
I sobbed like all the time with him. He broke my heart. When he pushes all the furniture out of the house, including the chairs, I felt so proud of him. Losing the house and the furniture and a life he once had was so good for him. I know it's a children's movie but Pixar definitely laces in the moral stories for the adults. Moving on was healthy for Carl. I like that Pixar decided to show that there's life even after mourning, there's life even when you feel you're all alone, and that you're never actually alone. There are still adventures to be had. It's for the kid in all of us and to prove to those adults that life isn't all business and work and adult stuff.
PIXAR, YOU'RE SO BEAUTIFUL. (I may do this from time to time.)
As for Charles Muntz, I sympathized with him until he tried to burn the house. Then there was no more sympathy. However, before that I had to agree with him that he should take Kevin back to the States. Now you're all going to say I hate animals or something. I don't, I love them. But as someone older seeing this, after enjoying it as a children's movie, I have to do my adult analyzing. Charles was humiliated and called a fraud and basically self-exiled. If I were him, I would want to prove myself at any cost too. So I don't think anyone can entirely blame him. And then he tried to burn the house. And then I was all, 'MAN, I WAS ON YOUR SIDE.'
But it's all about Carl. PIXAR, STOP MAKING SUCH AMAZING CHARACTERS. (See?)
I don't know what else to say. I feel like I should make this longer but what else can be said save for the fact that Pixar is so, so amazing? THEY MAKE EVERYTHING FLAWLESS AND COLOURFUL AND WONDERFUL AND AMAZING. The coloooouuurrssss. SO PRETTY. I was like in colour heaven, for srs. AND IT'S JUST PHENOMENAL. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY? I'M SPEECHLESS.
JUST GO SEE IT. The morals are wonderful for all of us older people and it's just fun and exciting and touching and beautiful.
