LOL THAT VIDEO IS SO HILARIOUS AND CUTE.

I haven't seen the film yet. Not sure if I will, because I know *nothing* about Star Trek (I know, I'm sorry). Would it make sense to a newbie like me?

That's cool - thanks for letting me know! I'm not put off seeing it because I don't know anything about the history, but I'd rather know now rather than later if I'm going to get lost while viewing! Flatmate and I were going to a movie tonight anyway, but I think we'll be seeing State of Play, or Star Trek - although probably the former before it leaves the cinemas here.

D'awwww, thanks, hun. :D

Oh, it would make sense. Since it takes place before the original series, it's kind of like an introduction where you could then go watch the television series if you wanted to. There are a lot of shout-outs to the original series that you may miss but the plot overall and the comedy and adventure and sheer epicness will not be lost on you, I promise. You should definitely see it. I would think it's a film you'd like since you've done Iron Man, Dark Knight, Hulk, Wolverine. Plus it's sci-fi which makes it like infinitely more awesome. And there are beautiful actors in it.

I think I probably will see it - just not sure when at this stage. I went to see State of Play tonight; surprisingly good as I was prepared to be irritated with it.

Yeah, I've actually heard that this new State of Play is good. It got a lot of good reviews over here. But I'm going to see the original first, of course.

It was good - I enjoyed it. There is a quick review in my LJ if you are interested.

Personally, I think it's possible to think it's an awesome movie just for the effects and 'splosions and even for the character interactions without knowing the canon.

Will knowing the canon make it ten times more enjoyable? DEFINITELY.
