Look at the subject for this post. That's pretty much this film. Looks absolutely gorgeous on the outside but on the inside, it's a complete mess. Well, maybe not a complete mess but it certainly has its flaws.

UNLIKE CATE BLANCHETT'S SKIN. OMG SHE WAS SO PURDY IN THIS FILM. But that's about it.

If you haven't figured it out yet, I wasn't exactly impressed by this film as I thought I was going to be. For all the hype about it, I felt like it really let me down. It was long. Like really long. Australia was just as long but I felt more entertained and so I didn't start falling asleep in that one like I did in this one. I just felt like they could have omitted so much and it may have been a better film. Some have said really good things about this film but I just didn't feel it. I couldn't connect with it and it seemed to drag on and on and fall flat. It didn't have any sort of spark.

The casting was great although Cate Blanchett was kind of just there. She kind of fell flat for me too. Brad Pitt, obviously, was the highlight. I felt like he really stretched his wings here and it definitely paid off. I was charmed and impressed by his performance and it's one of the best things I've seen him in (which may not be saying a lot talent-wise since I've seen him in a lot of the same roles). He had this vulnerability as Benjamin Button and I really felt that he grew with the character and he was probably the best part of the film for me. Oh, and the guy who got struck by lightning seven times. XD

(Plus, SURPRISING TILDA SWINTON CAMEO WAS SURPRISING (and scary)!)

If you want to know what I thought of this movie, let me tell you about my reaction when the credits started rolling. I just kind of sat there thinking, 'What in the world was this film?'. I really just don't know what to think. It had glimmers of being a good film in some scenes and then it would just fall again. I DON'T KNOW. :/ But it definitely wasn't what I was expecting, both in good ways (Brad Pitt!) and bad ways (the rest of it).

Recommend this movie to other people?: Not in theatres. But I'd say it's worth a look once it's on DVD.
Buy the DVD: Probably not.

Otherwise, I may be seeing Valkyrie tomorrow. Tom Cruise haters to the left, please. I don't consider myself a fan of him but I also don't think he's the worst thing to ever walk the planet.

I have The Queen sitting in my room right now. Will go watch in a bit. MICHAEL SHEEN. 8D
