Today is L.E. Bryce Promotion Day! *throws confetti*

Writing has many upsides, otherwise I wouldn't do it. There are downsides as well, though, and one of them is that I lack the time to a) read as much of other people's work as I'd love to and b) promote the things I managed to read and like. Forget authors' chats and groups and whatnots - to most of us poor, suffering authors those events are no help in selling books. It's "word of mouth" that does the job. I do many reviews for text books, but not really for fiction. Why? Because I find it terribly difficult to put my feelings about a book I enjoyed into words - or, rather, put the impression other people's words have left on me into words. (Makes no sense? Don't worry.)

Anyway, back to reading and recommending. Today, so I've decided, is the official

"L.E. Bryce Promotion Day"

in this journal here. Feel free to throw confetti, but really, I'd rather have you go out and buy Mrs Bryce's books, because I love her work. I wish I had the time to read more of her writing. She's an amazing writer of homoerotic fantasy, so that should appeal to many of you. I admire every author who can create her or his own universe (there's a reason I love Tolkien's books!). If you want reading a book becoming an "out of this world" experience, then that's one of the authors you want.

I'm also terribly envious because the woman has so many other talents beside writing. Yo. Registered member of the Miss Zim fanclub here. Or I would be, if there was one.

Here are some links for you. Check out her website for freebies, and don't forget to visit her LJ granamyr - there is plenty of material for you to "test read" before you decide to buy one (or more *hint*) of her books.

THE BLUE HOUSE - the website - enjoy the amazing Xmas card at the top!

HER BOOKS (e-books and print editions)

News: A CROWN OF STARS is now available for pre-order through Phaze (print edition)

News: THE FIFTH HOUSE is now out on Phaze

Read and have a look around and place your orders! :-)

Last but not least: congratulations to L.E. Bryce - the cover artwork for her The Water Lovers of Sirilon just won the 2009 GLBT Ariana! *wild applause*

By the way, she just announced that she'll post an excerpt from the upcoming House of the Swallows (1/12/09) in her LJ on Xmas eve. So if you should be tired of the 98899800 re-run of "Elf"...

writing, recs
