It's official: Miss C. is a fanpoodle. She was teasing
lineae and me mercilessly during our trip to the National Maritime Museum over supposed geekiness; completely unfounded accusations, of course. Fine, ok, we spent a bit of time looking at that uniform... a mid-18th century lieutenant's uniform. A real one. The cuffs! The buttons! And how tiny that bloke must have been! And then there was the model of the Endeavour with all the figures and the cargo and the hammock and did you see the ship models and whee a tricorne and stockings and swords and look a shop sign in form of a midshipman and ew the cat o'nine tails and... see? Not geeky in the least. Just - natural historical interest. So there. :-P
But on Tuesday, she showed her true colours at the Doctor Who Exhibition in London. Oh boy, did she ever! It was raining cats and dogs and, one other visitor aside, we were all alone and took our time to take pictures, pose with aliens and discuss the artistic aspects of Ecclecake's performance. Just - natural artistic interest. So there. :-P
I took pictures; as I'm not the Whosian, I have no idea who most of them are, but I'm sure the Who-fans among you will know and hopefully enjoy them.
Make-up Artistry - How to get Tentacles
The One I couldn't resist
I'd like to point out that the breeches had NO front flap, though. Yes, I checked. Don't ask.
Santa ran out of Motor Oil...
Those would make some wicked Christmas cards...
Things on TV might not be as huge as you think...
And that goes for actresses and actors as well. I want to hit people who whine about "fat" actresses (especially!) with blunt trouts, anyway, but geezez, now that I've seen the original costumes, I can only say that all the girls on that show would fit in my messenger bag. Somebody please feed them. :-/
The place where Rose lives... has the same height as me, I'd say. I only have fewer tags.
So they did not blow up Big Ben? Now I'm disappointed...
Big honkin' space gun thingy. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to check if it works.
100% Svarovski. Heh.
And I wasn't allowed to operate this one, either. Dammit.
Davy Jones' weekend house.
Itsy Bitsy Spider
This thing was HUGE, and she moved! Rather scary; if you suffer from arachnophobia, you better skip that part of the exhibition. But a fantastic model; unfortunately, it was very difficult to take a decent picture.
Cybermen, Cyberman, does what... no Idea
I took tons of pictures of Miss C. posing with these guys. Sorry, not going to share, but these gentlemen were very photogenic. And they moved! :-D
Daleks!
The Dalek-part of the exhibition was simply amazing. Noise! Exterminate! Fog! Moving Daleks! Whee! Lights! Whoo! We were "attacked" by Daleks, and of course, we ran back and forth to get the show started again and again, like little kids in the sweets shop. Great fun!
Assorted Creatures
Interesting... I was very impressed how much care and detail was put into these creations. So much gets lost on the telly, some of the figures were scarily "alive".
Episodes I've seen
The One With The Kids And The Gas Masks: I absolutely loved that story arch. It was amazing, creative, impressive and touching.
The One With The Freaky Blinking Angels: *shudder* material for nightmares. The light goes on and off at the exhibition, so it was almost impossible to take a picture of this freaky thing. Plus, as an epileptic, I felt uncomfortable with all the blinking. But it was worth it. Here, have a Christmas card for people you can't stand... ;)
The One With The Cat Nuns: great episode, but also very uncomfortable. It was one of those stories where you look at each other at the end and think: hm. Who knows - maybe this is already happening...?
The One With Kylie Minogue And The Cute Middie: "Voyage of the Damned", right? Yes, well... *scratches head*... it was ok-ish, sort of. I don't know. "Titanic" as entertainment-material always makes me a little uncomfortable.
The only memorable thing for me was the cute Middie, and they had no picture of him at the exhibition. But hey - that's what I have my google-fu for! :)
Lookit - earz! *sigh*
Hope you like them - image heavy, of course! :)
