Is it odd that I find Trollope an easier read than Dickens?

Hi, so I totally haven't updated in a while. Let's catch up a bit.

The last two weeks were pain and suffering in Movement I with Yuki. It was a good class, and I learned a lot, but by the end of it I wasnted to go change my major to accounting because I obviously fail at theater. And then I had a directorial meeting with Bill and Torbin and it helped me remember that I am fine and that it's all subjective. So that was that.

Trying to get everyone together to rehearse for Thurber has been an absolute nightmare, but since i'm the only one who seems worried about it, I'm trying to just let it be whatever it is. My cast is Amazing, so it's not like they aren't trying their hardest to make it work. Scheduling seven people who are all working/schooling is just generally really difficult. I have to turn in my ground plan and my lighting plot tomorrow, which means I should probably decided what they'll be. And as for the missing actor in my later show, we'll be holding auditions in the first couple days of school to try and find a replacement, in which case I can still do Ghosts. If we can't fill the slot, then I'll switch shows. Sven is going to loan me one to read which he thinks I should consider, but at the moment my fallback is to maybe do Closer. Or four-person Ros & Guil Are Dead, because Abbey and I have a sick sense of humor.

And someday I really, really, really want to direct The Fantasticks. And I will use all the original lyrics for "It Depends on What You Pay", because all the PC crap lyrics in the rivival suck, as does the "Abduction, Abduction" version they used in the movie. Thanks you.

I got to see Melody the last couple Saturdays, which was gleeful, since with her in Saint Joe and me in Saint Francis we can't get together much during the semester. Also got to meet Rob and a few of her other friends from school. I also got to see Kish for a minute the other night, which was fantastic because I haven't seen her in forever either. It's so bloomin' difficult to coordinate anything these days when more than one person is involved.

I've been slowly but surely trying to make my 101/1001 list, which is much harder than one would think. However, as someone who likes lists and is bad about long-term planning, it seems like a worthwhile think to try and do.

I wish SFSU's bookstore would include ISBN numbers with their online info for textbooks-it would make it so much easier to track down all the books on B&N or Amazon and get them cheaper. However it does look like I'm going to manage to stay under $200 this semester...actually, I'm under $150, since three of the books in my cart are technically not for school. (I am totally taking advantage of the fact that I have to order stuff anyway and sneaking a couple pleasure-reads into the bunch.)

Aaaaand to top this whole thing off I have a ton of stuff that needs to get written, and no time or motivation to get it done. Argh. Okay, done now.

And yes, the subject line was solely so that I could use my Trollope tag. XD

fantasticks, theatre, brown bag, random rambling, kish-like-fish, melody, a. trollope is not a loose woman, social life, writing, books
