School and Halloween Costumes

Turned in our Marat/Sade proposal today, so now we just play the waiting game until we find out what show's gotten picked. We're so psyched up to do this though, I really hope they take a chance on it and pick us.

We got to play Jeopardy in History to review for our midterm. It was really funny. Our teacher threw chocolate to whoever answered the questions correctly, and at the end each team got a bag to divvy up.

In Shakespeare we've started Twelfth Night, and I can already tell I'm going to be frustrated to no end with the overanalysis of the sexuality in the play. I mean, I suppose it's somewhat to be expected, we are in San Fransisco for goodness sake, but still. Argue over Viola's dressing as a boy as an expression of her sexual identification and preference all you want: she's dressed as a boy because single women alone in foreign countries get raped and murdered in this time period. And the hermaphrodite discussion? Just no. They're twins. They're young. They look a lot alike. They have different equipment, and they know how to use it. I'll refrain for sharing the rest of the rather graphic rant I had at Tom and then my mother, suffice to say it ended with the statement "Who knew that Sex in Elizabethan England book would come in so handy, and I'm not even a Human Sexuality major!"

In other news, I'm still trying to come up with a Halloween costume that I can wear to class that A) will not get me raped on BART and B) will not make me too self-conscious. Candidates so far include: Mina Harker (probably from the LEG graphic novel, since I did original novel last year) or Superman/Supergirl (The "S" logo shirt showing under a business suit). I also have a variety of other options which can be pieced together from my extensive theater wardrobe. Anyone got any brilliant ideas? Literature/movie references always encouraged.

I'll do my NaNo info in a separate post, after I go eat something. Woo-hoo!
