Sometimes I have been about 80 percent this hyper (THIS

I spent about two and a half hours typing up an email in response to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN5kLKkABxo&feature=player_embedded#at=45 then I emailed it to the guy in that video, who apparently is the director of the school of design at ASU. In it, I linked to a little piece of urban blight in south Tempe that I think serves an excellent example of what his park corridor idea might work out to be. I expounded on the idea of building structures for shade, and taking it to a large scale, maybe even as far as putting shade structures for miles along main thoroughfares in phoenix.
I also proposed a design challenge, that maybe the design college could give to their students, that focused on designing a way to build modular roofing for schools that could somehow encourage corporate investment. Primarily in response to this article (
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/05/22/20110522arizona-schools-building-repairs.html ) which shows that the legislature no longer gives a shit if AZ schools roofs start leaking and collapsing. They stopped funding the AZ school repair fund and now many school districts are just praying nothing bad happens. So my challenge was to come up with a roof design that is modular, could be made at a factory scale, and which provides an incentive for non governmental entities to pay for school roofs. For example, they could have a design that uses school roof space for solar panel farms or for automated bio materials production (read, algae that produces engineered materials), or something else innovative that I can't think of. The school gets a new roof, the corporation gets whatever is being produced, and the legislature can go fuck themselves. Everybody is happy.
I geek out sometimes.
Note, I did not use profanity in my email to the director of the school of design. Just right now, because the legislature really pissed me off. If I didn't really like the climate here, and I didn't have family, friends, and a future here; I would move the hell out of this state, because of the legislature alone.
