My rheumatologist diagnosed me with fibromyalgia yesterday. I'm a little freaked out. Partly because she absolutely refused to give me any hope that things will change in the forseeable future. I am really concerned about you living alone under these circumstances. :( I wish I lived nearby so that I could help out in emergencies!
If you have health benefits, I think you should look into what kinds of resources might be available to you, in terms of getting someone that can help with stuff like shopping or errands, or driving you around. Or can anyone in your family help for a bit?
I am so sorry you are going through this. *hugs*

Yes, I have had the same thought. If I become incapacitated, I'll need to check into what kind of home care I can get. I have a friend who lives nearby, but she will be moving out of state some time this year. So will my other nearby friend. My brother in Brooklyn has no car, so cannot shuttle back and forth. Right now, I guess it's not such an issue. I mean, I've been trying all day to muster the energy to go to Whole Foods for some supplements and food, but it might be tomorrow before I can do it. Last weekend, it was Chinese food delivered to my door that saved the day.

Deb, I'm so sorry you've been going through all of this. I want to do something to be of help, but I don't know what would be useful to you. Please, if there's ANYTHING I can do, let me know. I'll cook stuff to put in the fridge if you want, or come over and clean, or anything.

Thanks, dear, I do keep it in mind that I could ask you to come if I reach really difficult points. While I do think that letting people do for me now is imporant ... I can give others the chance to perform a mitzvah ... I try to be rational about what I really, really need (and how much extra time the other person really has for silly tasks). As time goes on, things may become more urgent. My neighbor ran me to supermarket today, and that was a life-saver ( ... )
