Well, it's time for a little update on things. I've decided to print out many of these posts (and some past ones) and put them into a journal/scrapbook. Gonna paste in all sorts of little pics and do some line drawings. Or so I think.

First of all, my heartfelt thanks go out to newleaf31 for taking some time to call and let me talk some things out (not to mention my gratitude for that sweet testimonial for me on her journal). I can't tell you how great it was to just be heard. You know, I was raised in what is called a "distancing familly". You may have one. You aren't supposed to talk about really personal things. Stuff looks great on the surface; everyone goes their merry way, but carrying tons of baggage. I remember my mother telling me when I was fairly young, "If you ever tell me you need a psychiatrist, I'll pack your bags and put you on the front porch". And this was from a woman who was very gentle and loving. Yet, it was too early to break with traditions of the past. It was the 1960s, after all.

But, that's not what this is about.

This is just to say that I'm working on a new eating program. I've put back on a lot of the weight I lost 10 years ago. In the last four years, it really escalated. Not back to where I was, but I can see it from here! So, I've been working on some menus that I can cook up and pack and take to work. My deal is that I will take all my meals for the first four days of the week, and the fifth day is a free day. It's going pretty well. This will be my third week, but I'm liking that I'm not going out at lunch and eating a massive amount of restaurant food, and that I'm saving a lot of money. I'm also getting the hang of taking enough food. I'm on track with my weight loss plan, and I'm using the graphs on fitday.com to see my progress. Will I keep this up? I think it's a function of finding tasty things that sit well (no sandwiches allowed), and what kinds of returns I continue to get.

After some analysis on why I kept failing at this before, I realized that I was never going to cook every night and pack up a lunch for the next day. So now, I cook up all the breakfasts and lunches on Sunday evening and have each meal stowed in a container, ready to heat up. Last week's meals were absolutely nummy.

Keep in mind with all of this that I don't really like to cook. So, it's a big challenge.

Just finished up this week's meal preparation. Hoping to lose two more pounds this week. Wish me luck.
