Down We Go!

A couple of blog-update notes today. First off, to anyone that noticed my blog mysteriously appearing in the Tarutaru Times Online, yes, I am THAT Erecia of For Glory CoP Guide fame. I don’t update the guides any more for a number of reasons explained in this blog entry but also including physical limitations to how many pictures I am allowed to store on my friend Linsaran’s website. So please don’t send any more corrections and stuff since I no longer update that webpage. Chances are I already know about the errors. In lieu of writing guides I write Ereblog entries, which are far more frequent and still as delightfully irrelevant but occasionally contain a flash of insight or two.

Second, in preparation of the blog being on TTTO, I went back and gave all my entries funky titles. I did this at about 1 AM so some make more sense than others. Why you may care about this is because I also un-privatized a few entries that were private to me only. So if you really want to go rooting around in my past a bit more, go ahead and take a few looks. There are some super-drama stories that are still private but maybe I’ll eventually unprivatize them too.

Anyway, today. Seeking on Corsair (ding 30!) is pretty much an open invitation for anyone that wants to do anything not related to giving me a party on corsair to invite me along on some weird quest. Today’s event involved being recruited into doing a Moblin Maze Monger for the first time. “Doing MMM” seemed to translate directly to “getting a level 1 character in the party, entering the maze once for each person, slaughtered a bunch of extremely weak mobs, and getting 15 marbles a pop.” Hmm. Well, if nothing else, I can say it’s a relatively fast event.

At least I’m a real pirate now on my Corsair. YARRR!

But slightly seriously, I may start to do MMM more regularly. The Koggelmander drops from that, as does the Ermine’s tail. Considering my current gil crunch, as well as the fact both of those weapons are pretty good (Kogg beating out “AXI can’t kill Odin” Hofud and “lol 2.4 million gil” Frag by a fair amount even) this seems like a pretty good way to get some good gear for my jobs completely free. Plus, if SE adds more stuff to it, I’ll probably be in a pretty good position to take advantage, sort of like how I was with Nyzul isle.

The general gist of doing MMM for weapons, best I can gather, seems to be:

1)      Spam marble farming runs, utilizing any free runes from the boxes to make better and better marble farming mazes.
2)      Buy the runes you need to create the mazes that drop the weapons with the marbles that have been farmed up.
3)      Farm the completed boss run maze until you get your weapons to drop.

It seems to be that first step that’s the problem, as 15 marbles a run ain’t a whole heck of a lot since you can only enter your own maze once per day and some of those runes I need to buy are pretty expensive. What I need is some people interested in doing this on a regular basis that are also upgrading their own mazes for better marble outputs. They help me, I help them, eventually we all win. Of course, since MMM only really appeals to BLUs and DNCs wanting to get Koggelmanders and Ermine’s tails, I’m not sure how well trying to form a static for this is going to go.

It’s something I’m going to spend some time looking into. Any of my usual crew interested in this? Or anyone who’s done MMM have any tips or advice on this? The wiki guides are essentially nonexistent.

cor, blogging, mmm
