Ranger to 37, done, thank God.
Despite the fact that nobody particularly liked the last graph … In light of the last graph’s overwhelming success, I have prepared another, graph, this time about getting sub jobs done.
The blue straight line represents the total amount of exp needed to reach 37 and the black curvy line represents your progress. It’s a plateau graph, meaning that the closer you get to 37, the longer it takes. It’s a general trend I’ve noticed when it comes to trying to finish off subjobs once and for all.
Case in point: after a few completely fail parties at level 35 I finally got one that seemed pretty good. I was level 36, 150 exp tnl, literally one kill away. The party leader, a bard, announces that we’re going to take a half hour break while he runs back to town to buy spell scrolls and then just runs off into the citadel with the PL following him. As he built the party with the PL in it, we had no healer and were apparently just expected to wait there while he picked up Army’s Paeon III or Light Carol or some crap. My patience was totally gone. I dropped party, ran outside, killed two mobs and got the level, and kissed RNG goodbye.
Overall, RNG wasn’t too terrible once I started getting parties above level 30. With holy bolts, hawker’s knives, and noct gear, my accuracy jumped ridiculously high and I stopped missing 75% of my shots which easily made me the best DD. And then of course Barrage was good times. I can see RNG being fun to play and level, but the lack of something like haste makes it seem pretty weak at endgame; pain multiplied by the fact that you need to pay gil per shot in order to be sub-par. I’m not too worried about COR being in the same boat though, as any damage I do on COR is more damage than most people would probably expect.
Speaking of, I leveled COR 1 to 12 ridiculously fast in good old traditional Gustaberg. Corsair’s Roll combined with the easy prey / decent challenge exp boost meant I could slaughter enemies far lower than my level and still get good exp. I mean, look at that screenshot. If I could kill mobs in four hits for 74 exp and not take any damage I’d never join another party again.
I stopped at 12 not because I had to (though it was getting a bit dull) but because the dice merchant in Al Zahbi is gone and has been for the past couple of days. I know where he’s at (Halvung) but after looking at the level of the mobs that drop the prison cell keys with the placement of said cells, I don’t think it’s something I can tackle alone and I’m too lazy to try to get some sort of team together. Where’s the JP when you need ‘em? As soon as this schmuck gets back I’m just going to buy all the good dice up to 75 and put them into storage. If he ever gets back, that is. Well, at least it’s a good incentive not to obsess about COR for a bit.
Also, 3 people completely blew off Nyzul last Friday. Because of this, I'm cancelling the group for purposes of reorganization, possibly permanently. We did have a good run, but if half the people consistantly aren't going to show up every week, it may be time to call it quits. Well, I'm relatively satisfied with what I got in Nyzul. My major regret with stopping wouldn't be a want for more gear but instead because it was one thing that I knew I was one of the best at. It's always fun kicking ass. Maybe I'll start a new group later, who knows.
