Things have been going pretty well for me lately. Fall always makes me feel upbeat. I started work last week - I'll be working 2 days a week for a while, with some extra days here and there. I'm essentially my boss's personal assistant - I get to do a lot of filing, which turns out to be more fun than it sounds. It's nice to not feel like a jobless slacker or a sponger. I did miss the meowers while I was at work - I was very glad to see Myrtle when I got home!

Classes have been going well. I'm really getting into doing searches on Dialog. I like the idea of having to know "secret" codes to search for documents! It makes me feel like a professional.

I also joined the ALA (American Library Association). One of my classes is about the professional and social aspects of librarianship and we've been talking a lot about professional organizations. I decided it would behoove me to join a professional organization, so I did. I'm really looking forward to going to the ALA national conference in June. It's in Washington DC this year, so I'm definitely going!

In social news, I have several friend crushes in the library science program. I'm currently plotting ways to get them to come to potlucks. I suspect that at least one of them lives in West Philly, which is exciting.

I also hope that Get Busier will actually happen. I really, really like living with lots of people. I'd probably get very lonely if I ever lived by myself. Living with eight people is good, but living with fourteen to sixteen people would be even better. My only wish is that we had either a bigger kitchen or I had my own kitchen. Using knives in a crowd is just a bad idea.
