Cooking and Games

So, I've started cooking up a storm for some reason. I've been making my own bread and a lot of things from scratch. It's kind of fun and helps alleviate the boredom. I also made some roasted red pepper hummous (even roasted the peppers myself) and it turned out to be quite delicious. I think I'm gonna try baba ghannouj next. I've never done anything with eggplant before, though. I believe you roast them and remove the skin, then get the juice out of them before blending it all together.

I managed to borrow a few games from a friend. One of them is Bioshock, which is this really cool Art Deco/Steampunk-style FPS game. Basically you play some guy in 1960 who gets in a plane crash over the Atlantic. You happen upon a secret underwater city where there are no laws or regulations, and people are free to do as they please. Unfortunately it's gone to shit (as would any place full of Anarchists), since scientists developed the ability for people to alter their genes. The place has turned run down and dangerous, crawling with crazy people who've messed with their own bodies a little too much. The only way you can fight them is by using weapons and injecting yourself with EVE so you can employ various "powers".

As you can see the game is really dark, I had to turn up the gamma when playing it so I could see. The graphics are quite good. I highly recommend it. It's not "The Best Game Ever Made" as some people are touting it to be, but it's a lot of fun.

I also managed to get my hands on Assassin's Creed, a game I've been waiting to play for a long time. The huge environments, gorgeous graphics and interactivity is nice. Unfortunately, it suffers from repetitive missions and side quests. You'd think they could come up with some good content, considering how much effort they put into the scenery. The plot is a bit confusing and vague. The end of the game is REALLY hard, forcing you to fight huge groups of enemies. The controls make it a bit difficult to flee effectively when surrounded, which can be frustrating. Other than that it is a very good game and I recommend it also.

Not much else going on otherwise. Gonna go work on the new house this weekend. They also put the current house we are living in up for sale. There is an incredibly ugly sign on our front lawn with the realtor's picture on it. After talking to him, I'd say he's definitely got the used car salesman persona. They are asking 80k for this house. When I heard that I laughed. Loudly. No one is ever going to pay that much unless they are a drooling, blithering idiot. There are so many issues with this place I'd be surprised if they got 30k.

I'm hoping this new place will work out for a while. It just needs a cleaning, some yard maintenance and a fresh coat of paint inside. I have no problem doing that. The basement is awesome! I'm so turning it into a nerd cave.

Also, I came across this picture of a Bioshock pen. I thought Mizsyn would like it. :)
