Free Fallin'

Yesterday I went skydiving with my friend Danille, her boyfriend, and a couple of his friends.  It was one of the most intense rushes of my life!!!  I loved it!

We went to Sky Dive Houston in Conroe.  We had to sign so many waivers of responsibility that it wasn't even funny, or actually it was.  One of the lines said, and I quote:  "By signing this document you are agreeing to give up certain legal rights."  Another gem was a paragraph that said successfull jumping required the perfect performance of the jumper, trainer, equipment and plane.  However, there was no way to assure that all these factors could perform perfectly.  Basically if I fell to my death I agreed to not sue or let my family sue.  But it's all good.  I'm not dead.  A little bruised, but we'll get to that in a bit.

The training was short and sweet, but we had to wait two hours before we even got that training.  That was the worst of it.  I though my jumpsuit was hot.  And so was my instructor.  He's a cheerleader for some college in Louisianna.  I don't think he was gay, but that didn't make getting strapped to him any less fun:P

The flight up in the plane went well.  Danielle actually got to fly the plane for a couple of seconds by the pilot!  I had wondered at one point why we leveled out before our goal altitude, but it was her.  She loved doing that, and then the pilot took us up the rest of the way.  Making our way to the door was a rush in and of itself.  Seeing the other jumpers go.  Seeing how fast they fell.  It really got me pumped!

The initial feeling of falling was panicy!  Part of me was scared of getting caught in the propeller, even thought we were behind it:P  The fall was amazing.  Tumbling through the air, watching the ground getting closer and closer!  The only hitch came when while I had my arms out-stretched I felt my shoulder dislocate!  That sucked!!!  You can see in my pics me yelling out when it first happened.  It looks more painful than it actually was.  Despite the dislocation I was determined to enjoy the res of the jump.  I just tucked my arm in to keep it from getting pulled anymore, and I rocked it the rest of the fall!

When my tandem instructor pulled our shoot we had an amazing view of the land.  I coud see downtown Houston from where we were!  The swaying from going back and forth made me a little nauseated, but I think that was just because it was combined with my shoulder pain.

The landing was great, and we got our pics and video, and then it was off to the hospital!  We went to Memorial Hermann in Katy.  That place kind of sucked.  They didn't look that busy, and I had to wait about 3 hours from the injury to the actual resetting.  Dislocations aren't that painful when they first happen, but the pain builds as time goes by.  At first it just felt weird, but by the I was up to a 10/10.  That part was terrible.  The longer we waited the more muscle spasms I had, and those were the most painful.  I did get some Dilaudid, but it only really started to help after the resetting.

All in all I think it was a good day.  I love skydiving, and despite the injury I'd do it again in a heartbeat!  It's the closest I've come to actually flying, and when I one day hang glide, I'll be even closer to flying by myself^_^

My favorite jump pic!

This is where my shoulder popped out>.<

OUCH!!!

But it was all good in the end^_^
