So I used to get migraines before I was pregnant with my now 3.5 year old kid. I didn't get a single one while pregnant, and at least until she was 18 months old. I've only had about 3 or 4 since then. Until 2 weeks ago. I have had four in the last two weeks, including one last Friday and one today. And they start with the fun ocular/ophthalmic/ ( Read more... )

You're on a version of the Pill, right? My doctor said that migraines were a possible side effect of that; I *never* had one until I started it. So for it to vastly increase the frequency of yours is not unheard of. Don't freak out yet. :) Wait 'til the neurologist tells you to!

Yeah, but I've been on it for 5 months. You'd think it would have shown up before now.

Took about 4-5 months for it to manifest in me. Not that I know more than your doctors, but it's a possibility.

Have you tried Excedrin Migraine or something similar when you get the aura?

I just take ibuprofen with something caffeinated and that's been heading off the huge pain. I still feel like my head is being compressed in a vise or something, but the pain is bearable. Excedrin is just acetaminophen (sp?) with caffeine, right? Ibu works better for me. Tylenol never did a thing for me.

I'll talk to my Gyn about this too. I really can't go off the pill at this point. Frequent migraine auras have nothing on endo pain.

Yeah, Excedrin is basically just pain reliever and a *lot* of caffeine in a single pill. I forget which is in it, since ibuprofen and acetaminophen both work for me. Apologies if we've had this conversation before; I'm getting deja vu. I only mentioned it because the Excedrin Migraine works for me so that I get no pain at all, which is like magic.

I decided to stay on the Pill and just come to terms with being a person who has migraines, but mine are a lot less common (like once or twice a year), so that's easy for me to say.

Yeah, if I have to decide between migraines and endo, I'm taking the migraines. At least with them, I can get relief or head them off if I'm vigilant. Wiht endo, there's nothing I can do except hard core pain narcotic killers, and even then, it's only to the point where it's bearable, not gone.

We may have discussed Excedrin. Now that you say that, I'm getting deja vu too. I'm glad it works so well for you. Ibu does that for me, if I get it at hte onset of the aura.

But here's the bad part about Ibu. I also have GERD, and Ibu aggravates it. So, I have Endo, and the meds for that cause (possibly) migraines. Then, the meds for migraines worsen my reflux. See what happens when you get older? You fall apart.

You poor thing. That does suck.

good thing you're (trying to) getting pregnant soon, before anything falls off. :)
