I am absolutely positive that black olives must be terribly terribly bad for you. That's the only explanation for why I love them so. I could eat an entire 12 oz can in a sitting and want more. I have felt this way as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I looked forward to holidays because my grandmother would put out a try with black ( Read more... )

I was definitely something living along the Mediterranean in a previous life. I love olives, olive oil, tomatoes, chick peas, all sorts of Greek and Middle Eastern food. Give me that over the fatty fried greasy American diet any day!

I don't know what his problem is. He's usually so reasonable about yummy foods. I used to stand at the relish try and eat them all until they were gone. I have been known to buy a can and just dump out the water and eat them all.

It's not bad. the salad bar is the jewel in the crown though. They go to the farmers market every week and get tons of produce. They even sell it for people who can't go themselves. The salad bar often has broiled sweet potatoes, grilled eggplant, steamed asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower, garlic-broiled baby brussels sprouts and zucchini and yellow squash, hearts of palm, tofu, several kinds of cheese, and about six house-made dressings and more. And that's on top of the regular salad bar-y type things.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I have never been a fan of olives. I was just talking about it the other day for some reason.
