Fire:
Do you remember Giles-
Buffy stopped
and didn't finish
She held the scribbled notes and messages
and tried to stop hoping
before she grabbed Willow's hand and started to run
Willow felt
fluttery, floaty
like the air
when you wake up in the morning
on the first day of spring
Her lips tingled
fingers trembled
"It's midnight," Willow said
voice hushed
The temptation is always there
at the edge of her fingertips
when Buffy holds her hand
Willow, hoping the new girl would notice and smile
Buffy, holding those words in her mind
"Think I was dreaming,"
Willow mumbled
but it's ok, you're here
Friday nights were the best
curled up together on the couch
bodies pressed impossibly close
hands, lips, tongue
Ice:
The cold clear air
filled her with the hope
that she'd always be falling
the too hot summer long forgotten
in a tangle of sticky fingers
and sweet kisses
Cheerful enough to disguise the tremble
"You're not breaking some sacred rule"
Never letting her forget
that there's a place that's warm
and feels like home
The told her lies in the other world
to try and make her stay
too bad they forgot
she was stronger than that
"I'll always be here baby,
the forever kind of always"
Buffy pulled a blanket off the back of the sofa
then they curled up under the blanket
and snuggled in good and close
The world flips
like gravity had shifted
and she was stuck here
holding her best friend's hand
The pain she feels
not being able to ease Buffy's sorrow
Just before she shut off the light
Willow heard Buffy breathe out a quiet sigh
wanting nothing more
than to fall
This lovely set of little ficlets gave me a lot of interesting imagery and evocative phrases to work with.
I'd never done an erasure before, and haven't written any poetry in over a decade, so I was hoping I could make up for any flaws in the poetry with art. But getting the picture to look aesthetically pleasing while keeping the text legible turned out to be more of a challenge than I was expecting!
xenoamorist's
as small as a world and as big as alone was very inspiring though I found myself unable to let go of the idea of a single ridiculously huge image.
