After Erasmus punched Ris for a comment about his service to the Crown, a duel was arranged. Ris took the champion option, much to many's chagrin. And so, the Mandrakes and onlookers meet in the ballroom of the Golden Goose to see honor defended.

Piffle. I won, of course. You were knocked unconscious, and then I showed mercy by healing you. ;)

Gerard screwed you. :) The whole reason Ris got Gerard as his champion was to keep Caine off your back. But then Gerard set the scene up such that you get stuck with Caine anyway!

But he screwed me, too. My poor, aching jaw.. :)

That's your perception. Mine is actually quite different, so would appreciate your acceptance of that fact, at least OOC. ;) I don't actually buy the retro-explanation for a lot of reasons, but it's better left to IC and not OOC. Just be glad for Gerard

Kind of related to my long comment above, I work and live under oath, myself. There's always a bit of oneself in one's character, afterall.

This sums up, in many ways, why Erasmus is such a compelling and interesting character. Having a core motivation, a core ideal, that defines his interaction with other people gives him a neat kind of depth.

I didn't think you'd take my humor here seriously. :) I think it was a great scene, full of lots of interpretations.

Yeah, my tolerance for playful OOC posturing is not really high. :) But it's cool. I figured the resulting explanation for some odd things was due, so most of my reply comment was just trying to explain Erasmus and not countering your humor.
