he reached over the back seat, which had been fashioned into a makeshift bed for the two of them, to grab his last cigarette. the bitter march air managed to creep it's way into the car, chilling the two of them to the bone. she stroked the skin on his free arm coyly and twisted her legs around his. despite how cold it was inside the car, it was her warmth that sent shivers down his spine. he struggled to find his near-empty pack of camel lights, groping the front seats blindly. he realized that there was simply no hope of finding them (though, he would find out in the morning that it had been in the back of the car the whole time), he gave up with a sigh and returned to the back to be with his temporary room mate. he wrapped his arms around her to keep her from freezing. a very quiet, shy voice then whispered in his right ear, "i love you."
