Shows how much you know about the Hurricane problem. The Federal Goverment is trying it's best to be there, and it's doing it's best to get people reloacted to cities in Texas, Oklahoma, and other surrounding states, as well as bring food for the surviors there.
However I must ask you this, have you seen how stupid people are acting down there? There are Gang Wars, Looting is taking place, and whenever help does come by, some douchebag with a gun decides to shoot at the Helicopter bringing food and supplies. Martial Law has been declare because of these idiots, and because of them the government is having to spend more time, money, and human resources on taking care of selfish idiots than saving families in need.
In all honesty, you aren't giving our goverment enough recognition for how they are handling the situation. However that's not to say that we shouldn't pitch in. I personally have donated over $50 in cash, and am going to donate water for the people who need help.
Bureaucracy isn't all that bad... it's what you live in, and enjoy every day. The people who lead this country have done a decent job, and while they screw up every now and then, they sure as heck aren't screwing up with this problem. Don't be so quick to judge a system of government just because you think that you are right...
HOLY CRAP. IT TOOK THEM FOUR DAYS TO GET ANY SORT OF HELP DOWN THERE EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW AHEAD OF TIME IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. How would YOU act after four days standing outside, injured, with abosolutely NO FOOD OR CLEAN WATER? There's a little something called primal instincts that starts to kick in after a few days without food, water or shelter. They aren't idiots. They're just trying to survive with all their rational thought process gone.
Bush should've started pulling out of Iraq when he knew that a major hurricane was going to occur. And if not pull out completely he should've taken at least half. They've said at least five times that there would be busses and helicopters at specific times and there was NOTHING for FOUR DAYS. Would you like to drink Ocean water with piss, feces, and decaying bodies in it?
How can you praise the government if they're trying harder to save people of a different country and leaving AMERICANS TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES?
Darkside didn't say Bush was a genius. It was noted that the national government screws up royaly sometimes, but I think it needs to be recognized that Bush isn't the singular person to set the blame on this for. I really hate how people are so OMFGANTI-BUSH that they can't seem to examine any facets of a story beyond that fact that our president may not be the most well-spoken man in the office, ever. Everyone makes mistaked, and frankly, I've got to give the guy some credit. He gets into office and someone flies planes into the Twin Towers. Fantastic welcoming.
But, beyond my un-anti-ness for Bush (really, I couldn't care less that he's president. While I don't support him, I'm not going to blast him for making some mistakes). There are people in Louisiana that WERE in Iraq. Even so, no one could have possibly prepared for the devestation that occured in Louisiana and Mississippi. There were levees ment to protect places such as New Orleans, so many people stayed in their houses despite the mandatory evacuation, the local government officials (i.e. governer of Louisiana, etc.) didn't even declare the evacuation until 24 hours prior to the storm hitting. 24 hours was all he gave the roughly 2-million people living in New Orleans to leave. Wow.
Secondly, those people SHOOTING DOWN THE FOOD AND RESCUE HELICOPTERS ARE NOT PRESERVING THEIR OWN LIVES. They're ruining the chances for help to come by shooting the damn things down. How is that primal instinct? The people firing guns at the bulldozer crews trying to build the levees back up are not trying to help themselves or the people of Louisianna. They're being fuckheads.
You can't just blame what happened in Louisiana completely on Bush. It's irresponsible. Unless people failed to realize, we live in a bureaucracy. It's "We the people," not "The President we have no control over."
I will create a proper counter statment to what you said tomorow, although sadisticgrin has already put down most of what I would have said to you. I'm really tired today though. I'll save this for tomorow.
