Donuts Fic: Finals

Jun 01, 2008 22:11

I miss writing ficlets. I've been studying nonstop all weeked (interspersed with fanfic reading), but I need a break! So here's a fic about final exams. I know i'm lame. XP

Title: Final Exams
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Summary: They studied diligently for the final exams, until 1 in the morning. At that point, one could care less about Mr. Albert Einstein.
A/N: Hm... I wonder what brought this on...cough cough. Finals. cough.

OMFG LJ is f#5ked up. Stupid Formatting.

Watanuki’s head tilted slightly to the left and his glasses slipped a little. His eyes were fighting against the deadly foe known as sleep.

Thud.

His head fell onto the shiny pages of his physics textbook.

“mmmh…the theory of relativity says that flying clocks will lose correct time at the speed of Doumeki’s scream.” He muttered.

Doumeki, sitting across from him looked over vaguely atop the pile of books in front of him. Should he wake Watanuki?

There were two desk lamps on the table, casting a harsh fluorescent glow around Watanuki’s apartment. Doumeki blinked. The hiragana, katakana and kanji were all starting to blur together into a jumbled nonsense. He glanced at the clock on the wall, 1 am. Seeing as there were final exams tomorrow, he should probably get to sleep.

--

He had dropped by Watanuki’s apartment earlier today in hopes for food, because neither his mother or father was home that day, and he rather enjoyed Watanuki's cooking. Instead, he had found Watanuki with crumpled up papers, half-filled with math equations, and many cups of tea in front of him.

“Why are you here bastard? Actually. Never mind. Make yourself useful and tell me the formula for centripetal force! And explain the properties of matter!”

Doumeki stared blankly and then said, “ a = v2 / rand F = ma = mv2/r. Where v is the tangential velocity of the object. a is the centripetal (acting towards the center of the circle) acceleration and F is the centripetal force. r is the radius of the circle and m is mass of the object."

Now it was Watanuki’s turn to stare. Doumeki continued on.

"Properties of Matter: Density, Pressure and Specific Heat. Density
The mass of a substance contained in unit volume. Pressure is force per unit area. every substance has a unique value of amount of heat required to change the temperature of 1 kg of it by 1 degree Celsius. This number is referred to as the specific heat of the substance. The equation-"

"STOP! Ok now repeat everything you just said slowly. You! Are staying with me to help me study.”

Doumeki gave him a look.

"Fine! I’ll make you something for lunch tomorrow," but then he muttered," Stupid freeloader know-it-all, always forcing me to cook for him…”

They studied diligently, because this was their 2nd year in high school and doing well on exams was becoming more and more important. They worked together well enough. Watanuki putting aside his yelling for focusing on his studies. Doumeki doesn't remember seeing the other boy so determined and focused before. It was strange, but he didn't fix upon the though. Instead famous quotations, important battles, and English phrases were passed around, memorized and archived in the brain.

But at 1 in the morning, nothing came to Doumeki's mind except that he wanted sleep. He acquiesced to his body and closed the book, getting ready to lie down on the couch. Then he remembered Watanuki.

Sighing, he gently took the glasses off of the other boy. An indistinguishable mumble issued from Watanuki's mouth. Doumeki lifted him up, in his arms, and walked over to the bedroom door. The cot was already out, for some odd reason, but he didn’t dwell on it and set Watanuki down.

"I don’t need…stupid…carry…"

He even talks when he's asleep, Doumeki mused. He chuckled a little, and then he suddenly felt the whole day catch up to him, and he yawned. His limbs felt like lead, and at 1 in the morning, Watanuki looked like a pretty good pillow. He shrugged off his jacket and lay down, not to close because he knew the consequences of that (no lunch for a month and going deaf at the age of 16, if he was lucky), but slightly far away so that he could still feel the body heat of the other. He took a part of the blanket and tucked himself in. Sleep claimed him as he dreamt of alarm clocks, test scores, and angry yells.

Physics info was from some website...
Sorry for abuse of phrase, at 1 in the morning
Concrit would be <3
