This day started out good, then there was the A&M loss...which I will not discuss here (or likely at all), and then I did some reacquainting up. Nice to see old friends, and...well...new old friends I suppose. I never really thought about it before, but its totally weird how relationships develop between people.
Specifically I'm referring to Zach. I'm not going to get all touchy feely and all, because that would be kinda weird, and I don't really roll that way anyways. But basically, he was just this guy in band, and my other friends were friends with him, so I was actually around this guy all the time. sat behind him in band every day. This went on for 3 years, not counting middle school. Then...I think it started right at the end of my senior year (and Zach's first senior year)...I really don't know how we became friends, but its cool. We're way better friends now that I live 100 miles away from him than when I saw him every day. I actually spent more time with Zach over this thanksgiving than any of my other friends...so far, anyways.
So anyways, Dinner at IHOPS was awesome, and very entertaining. I had a lot of fun just trading quips and such with everybody, and people laughing at my...quirkiness? well, I don't really know why people laugh at me, but I think its funny anyways. (cue Lance to chuckle to himself) Then bowling. It was a really cool situation. Four of us sitting at the table with one or two conversations going on, then people would get up to bowl their round as the previous person sat back down. So the effect was that a meandering and very fun conversation was sustained for 2 hours, with the speakers and listeners constantly changing. It was refreshing to put aside my worries and just have a good time. Then Zach, Lance and I retired to my house to watch the Documentary that comes with the Star Wars Trilogy DVD's.
Zach can probably explain this better than I, but the way the documentary went really reveals a lot about how the making of the original trilogy went. In the beginning, GL was a man with a dream. He was consantly battling to make his dream come true, and hard work, determination, vision, and luck finally combined to produce the original star wars. After that, GL had won his battle against amazing odds, and to the surprise of almost everyone, including the actors and crew. Then he had the perfect opportunity, and the stars aligned or something absolutely supernatural occured, and GL produced his greatest work, ESB. You can tell from the documentary how much heart went into ANH and ESB, and how the story developed so perfectly. Then when the documentary gets to Return of the Jedi, they're sort of short on time. They talk a lot about the special effects, such as how they made the rancor and Jabba, but there's not discussion of storyline, or GL's original idea to have enslaved wookies, which were replaced by teddy bears Ewoks. You can really tell what direction star wars started going after this movie, and even before it. The documentary was like the trilogy-it wtarted off awesome, with a lot of great thought, and continued strongly, until they got to the third movie, which they just wrapped up as quickly as they could, and talked a lot about special effects.
One awesome product of today's events:
Aunt Beru: He's just not a farmer Owen! He's got too much of his father in him.
Uncle Owen: Thats what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid he's going to steal my droids!
