recently i finally achieved the third phase of the three year plan of settling down and having my own home. looking back, without adequate planning, a lot of things may not have been achievable, from last minute issues cropping up, to monetary woes. i'm going to attempt to reflect on the entire journey which may actually save future blissful ( Read more... )

I think you misunderstood, there is the engagement ring which the bride gets pre-wedding as a promise to wed.

Then there are the actual wedding bands or rings which are used during the ceremony.

And this guys is smart in the sense that he didn't buy from branded stores, go independent always. For example, de beers engagement rings can cost 2.5 times from a Debeers store as it would from a custom goldsmith who can make that same ring.

If the rings turned out great, please mention the jeweler name, they deserve credit for saving you that $$ I think ;)

actually cutedwodgy is right. i actually have 2 pairs of wedding bands.

because white gold sounds unauspicious in mandarin, my mother in law declared we had to get yellow gold wedding bands.

as for the engagement ring, zyan jewellery did it for us, and yes, it was more value for money. however we went ahead with a brand name for the wedding bands, one from lee hwa, which was the white gold, and then off to a neighbourhood goldsmith for the simple plain gold rings, which actually provides good value for money if you consider that you can negotiate on the price of workmanship.
