Inception Very cool flick with very cool effects. It's worth it just to see the fight scene in the revolving room. The concept itself is brilliant, enter peoples dreams and learn their secrets. As a whole, it seems like a movie that would get better after multiple viewings. It goes from dream, deeper into another dream, then into another dream until you forget who's doing the dreaming. Leo overacts a little here and there but as a whole a really fun, fun flick. Three cheers.
Death Race 2000 The 70s version (did they really remake this?) of life in the year 2000. The point of the race is to kill as many people as possible for points. Pedestrians aren't worth much, women and babies are worth more and the old folk are worth the highest points. The drivers wind up spending most of the movie trying to kill each other, but it's all terrific black comedy goodness directed by the marvelous Paul Bartel. Plus Mary Woronov is in it and I can't ask for more than that. Three cheers.
Enchanted Cute little flick with a cartoon character banished to the most hellish place in the world - New York City. It's the classic fish out of water story where the ambitious career guy falls for the free spirit. I like that it was Disney basically making fun of Disney and Susan Sarandon is a great villianess. Two cheers.
Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian Alrighty then. I enjoyed the first one, so why the hell not? It wasn't terrible. I liked the characters enough to want to revisit them, but it was as cheesy as I expected. I liked Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart (wait, she was in Enchanted too - yeah she's pretty damned cute) and as a whole, it was fun. Two cheers.
