What's under the stairs?
In the process of installing a newel post lamp I had to cut an opening in the kneewall behind the closet to get to the area under the bottom four steps of the main staircase. One always wonders what one will find when opening a void that hasn't seen the light of day in 103 years. The missing plans to the house? A small bag of gold coins? Not usually, usually one only finds plaster dust, cobwebs and mouse droppings. I did however find a consolation prize. Four original unfinished plinth blocks stacked up and as clean as the day they were milled. Thank you house!
