And November 1st Awaits...

Currently reading - The Dumas Club by Arturo Perez-Reverte
Currently watching (or just watched) - Full Metal Alchemist (best anime I have ever seen. hands down. intelligent, funny, cute, poignant and violent. everything I like)

This morning, I awoke at the crack of dawn to turn the radio on, since I have it on the best authority that my beloved Jay Chou's new single will debut today!

Alas, the song was not to be aired until 8pm. Blah! To think I woke up so early just to make sure I didn't miss the song.

Oh, I didn't miss it alright. Neither did my family, since I must have shrieked the house down just now when the DJs announced the song!!! =P

夜曲 Nocturne

Wow. I'm quite impressed...(as usual, though you know, when it comes to Jielun, I am never rational)

This song has his trademark muffled voice and not quite rap, not quite singing...Haha! But, I must admit the melody is quite a departure from his usual up-tempo ballads. Jay claims that this song, and the entire album (in fact) was inspired by his classical music background - Chopin - to be precise.

Hence the album title - 十一月的肖邦 November's Chopin

But I digress. Was I not supposed to be discussing the new single? I'm not sure I'm seeing the Chopin influence, but I am by no means an authority on the composer. What I do notice, is a latin, erm...flavour, you know, with that acoustic guitar...Perhaps this is what he means when he talks of the song having the "old world" feel? The guitar bits are mixed in very nicely with Jielun's trademark ostinato bass. Seriously, EVERY ONE OF HIS BALLADS has that ostinato bass (2 short, 1 long - does that even make sense?)
Oh, whatever. I love it anyway!!!!!!!! For the record, I managed to find a rip of it online and it has been on repeat on my itunes for the last 2 hours. Now, is that dedication or what?? Hah!

But truthfully, I'm really just trying to decipher the lyrics. November 1 is a little long for me to wait to get the official lyric insert. Not much progress. I've gotten the chorus, but the rap is too muffled.

Anyways, it's all good!

Patience is a virtue.

I'm contented to have a new song. That, and that illegal excerpt of his new duet (with the female member of Nan Quan Ma Ma) which someone sent me, will tide me through to November 1.

Do expect more updates when I get the album. Friend C has started a countdown in her blog. I would have too, except I'm not savvy enough, and don't think my blog supports it. =(

Friend C and I were disgustingly excited when we heard it just now. I must say, she is as big a fan as I am, if not bigger, since she did rush home from school to catch the new single via online radio, while I merely erm..delayed dinner...

Alrighty then, back to listening to more Jay and more Jay. I foresee a 2-song playlist till the end of the month!
