things...

Alright, so it's Thursday...we got a whole bunch of snow last night...well, I think it was this morning. Anyways, I'm going to stay home and work today. Tuesday night I went to the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre to see an improv show with my friend LauraK. It was pretty good. Then I stayed the night (thanks, LKG) and got up early to go run some errands. I saw a great show at the Drawing Center- Matt Mullican: A Drawing Translates the Way of Thinking. It was a retrospecitveish curated by Joao Ribas. It was great. It was the best show I've seen in a while...actually, that's not totally accurate. There are lots of good shows in NYC all the time, but this is the only one I've really liked in a while. Oh, last night I made some pasta with meatballs:

The meatballs are made from ground bison (yum) and have a whole garlic clove wedged in them. I seasoned them with some turmeric and pepper. The pasta is just some penne wheat pasta from Trader Joe's with some olive oil and seasoned with my McCormick generic Italian spices shaker. Went great with the Yuengling porter. I've been trying to cook more lately in an effort to relax and slow my brain down. I have a lot of trouble focusing and enjoying things...I've starting reading Mark Bittman's (nytimes' "food minimalist) blog Bitten. He posts a recipe a day and talks a lot about food/eating "philosophy." It's cool. He posts videos too, just like the Frugal Gourmet, except they're only 4 minutes long (perfect for those of us with no attention span).
