The day John Marston stopped shooting things

Luke and I jointly beat Red Dead Redemption last night. And... dear LORD. Most epic game ending EVER? I think so. Saw some of it coming, but the whole thing with Jack? D: I am speechless.

Well, maybe not quite speechless. If you own a console and are thinking about playing this game, a) GET IT NOW and b) please do not read. )

red dead redemption, fandom, obsessive much?, gaming, ps3

While I'd enjoy reading your summary, I'm engaged in Dragon Age on my Mac right now, and I might get to RDR on the PS3 at some point. (I'm a "late gamer" - buy and play after the rush is over.) So perhaps I'll come back and enthuse with you next year. ;-)

Ha! Yes, please do come back, I think my love for this game will be an enduring one. ;] Hope you're enjoying Dragon Age - I never did complete that one, got distracted by other games (the bad thing about getting caught up in the rush of new releases). But I really like the characters in it, especially Morrigan.

Yeah, the thing about originality in storytelling is that too often, people are more concerned with being original than telling the truth. And telling the truth (in a fictional sense; being honest about people and life) is what makes a story believable and the characters relatable. A complex plot might engage the mind but too often, as you pointed out, it can obscure the heart of a story. There's a reason certain universal themes (like home, family, redemption, etc) are revisited over and over again in stories - because they speak to the human condition ( ... )

I KNOW, I still hate myself a little because I seriously kept alive my Saddler for 8 in-game hours straight. I was so proud and SO attached (probably also because it was the horse Bonnie let me keep, aww). The first time it died I was so depressed! Then started scrambling around for money to buy the license, heh.

I think the American Standardbred is supposed to be the fastest horse in the game, but the Saddler has more endurance (I know the other top-tier horse is the Hungarian Half-Bred which I am going to hunt for soon to get the Buckin' Awesome trophy :D). But yeah, switching horses is emotionally traumatizing, let me tell ya. :/
