Have you seen my hat?

Oh man, oh man. RED DEAD REDEMPTION. I... can't do much more than flail right now as I'm only a couple hours in (work + company over = can't waste away in front of the PS3, sadly) but as;dlkfjwaoek it is so KEYBOARD SMASHING awesome.

First of all: John Marston. Wait, wait. You mean it's a sandbox title with a developed main character? Who's, like, got a personality? And wait. He's faithfully married? He doesn't want to run around with other women? And... despite being a hardened ex-criminal badass he's a... gentleman... with a high vocabulary and better manners than the "civilized" people around him?

I LOVE HIM. I love Bonnie, I even really like the Marshall. The voice acting is wonderful, and the dialogue is oh-so-sharp with the perfect amount of flavor and character to it. Rockstar, have you ever made a game for me.

Of course, so far I've been a bit one-track-minded: I botched a bounty because I wanted to run after some guy's gorgeous ebony horse; I took ten minutes to lasso my first mustang because I wanted the pinto dangit, THE PINTO; I captured and "broke" (lol it takes all of one minute) a Palomino stallion and made him my new best friend (he's like a Corvette compared to my old horse, though I feel all disloyal for switching); etc. Next time I sit down maybe I will actually pay attention to the other things I can do but HORRRSEEEEES. I have this screenname for a reason, yanno.

Anyway, my mother-in-law has been visiting for the past week or so and it's been an amazing time - had one of the best weekends I can remember, and Luke got a few days off work before and after, which made things all the sweeter. She's been exposed to our day-to-day colloquial madness more than ever before but because she is the best mother-in-law EVER she has done nothing but shower us with love and make life brighter. I'll miss her when she's gone. (The three of us playing Harry Potter Scene-It together is a sight to see, let me tell you.)

red dead redemption, family, things of win, glee, obsessive much?, gaming, ps3
